I Can’t Forget My Dad’s Radio | Degreatestsaints – Nurturing Talent, Restoring Homes
🎙️ I Can’t Forget My Dad’s Radio

There are some sounds that never fade — they echo beyond time.
For me, it was the sound that came from my dad’s radio.
It sat quietly on the table beside his old chair — black, rugged, sometimes full of static. You’d have to tap it once or twice before the music would flow. But when it did, the whole atmosphere changed. Our home — small and simple — suddenly felt alive.
Those songs did more than fill the room. They filled me.
I remember one track vividly — a song called “Memory.” It was my favorite. Every time it played, it felt like the world stood still. I didn’t understand the lyrics back then, but something in the melody spoke peace to a child who didn’t even know what peace meant.
That old radio became my first music teacher. It taught me rhythm long before I knew how to keep time. It taught me harmony before I knew the meaning of unity. It taught me to listen deeply — not just to sound, but to soul.
Years later, as I began teaching children through Degreatestsaints, I realized that same experience was what I wanted to give them. Not just music lessons — but moments that stay in their hearts forever.
When a child sings for the first time and their face lights up, I see myself again — sitting by my dad’s radio, discovering what purpose sounds like.
I can’t forget my dad’s radio, because it wasn’t just a box that played music. It was the start of a calling. It was a seed that grew into everything I am today.
And maybe, just maybe — the sounds we share through Degreatestsaints will become someone else’s “radio moment.” A memory that lives in their spirit long after the last note fades.
